March 6, 2012

Are you a fruit tree owner, or someone just interested in learning more about them? The perfect opportunity is just around the corner!

Fruits of the City (an initiative of The Minnesota Project) is offering a Fruit Tree Pruning and Training Class at University Lutheran Church of Hope 601 13th Ave SE, Minneapolis from 10am – 3pm on March 10th.

The class will be taught by Jeffery Johnson, a University of Minnesota horticulturist with 30 years of experience. The class will consist of two sessions: a classroom lecture from 10-12pm, and an outdoor demonstration and practice session from 1-3pm.

Topics to be addressed include: fruit production, tree longevity optimization, maintenance minimization, ease of harvest, and pesticide application.

Students will then head outdoors to work on trees directly using hand pruners, handsaws, pole saws, and spreaders.

The cost of the workshop is $30. Advance registration is required through http://fruittreepruningclass.eventbrite.com/ or by contacting Fruits of the City via email (fruits@mnproject.org) or phone (651-789-3321)

We look forward to seeing you there!
