The Minnesota Project Participating in the Great Minnesota Give Together Nov. 16

October 25, 2011

The Minnesota Project is one of many nonprofit organizations throughout the state that will ask fellow Minnesotans to show their generosity by donating online at during the third annual “Give to the Max Day.” This Great Minnesota Give Together is a 24 hour period for Minnesotans to come together to raise as much money as possible starting at midnight on November 16 through midnight on November 17.

Any donations to The Minnesota Project’s page on this day will keep the organization’s efforts of working for sustainable food, energy and agriculture in our state alive and progressing towards a more equitable future.

By engaging as many donors as possible to give to their favorite Minnesota organizations in one day – is able to showcase the generosity of Minnesotans. According to a 2010 December 3 article in Bloomberg Businessweek, The Minnesota Council on Foundations’ annual report found that residents give the majority of the donations in Minnesota. During the 2009 fiscal year, Minnesotans gave $4.02 billion to support services and organizations. However, for the state, this was a 7.7 percent drop from 2008, while national giving dropped 13.7 percent during the same time period.

As times have been tight for individuals who haven’t been able to support community organizations as they have in past years, nonprofits have been taking the hit while trying to respond to increased needs of the people they serve.
