Catch The Minnesota Project’s Fruits of the City on Kare 11 News!

September 20, 2011

After recently being named a Green Awards finalist, The Minnesota Project’s Fruits of the City program is making moves and getting noticed.  Our efforts to increase the availability of fresh, local food to underserved populations through neighborhood gleanings has caught the attention of Kare 11 so much that our recent gleaning in Welch, Minnesota will be featured in the Grow With Kare gardening segment on Friday, September 23 at 6:00pm and Saturday, September 24 at 9:00 am.

The Kare 11 special is a great way to see Fruits of the City in action. The segment will feature a successful gleaning made possible by the 30 volunteers from Blue Cross Blue Shield, Target and community members who harvested over 5,000 pounds of apples for our neighbors.

Won’t be near your television on Friday night at 6:00pm or Saturday morning at 9:00 am? You can catch the special after it is aired on Kare 11’s Grow With Kare website by clicking here.
