Northeast Minnesota Wind Forum to Offer Key Community Level Information

The Arrowhead Regional Development Commission, working in partnership with the Northeast Minnesota Regional Sustainable Development Partnership, the REDI Program (Rural Energy Development Initiative) The Minnesota Project, and Iron Range Resources will be holding a Northeast Minnesota Wind Energy Forum on Tuesday, November 12th from 1:00-3:00 pm at the Mesabi Range Community and Technical College in Virginia, MN.  This meeting will provide information to local units of government and community members in the Arrowhead Region who are interested in learning more about opportunities for wind energy development. 

Jim Plummer, with Iron Range Resources-Community Development Division, will discuss results from the Northeast Minnesota Regional Energy Survey.  Cheryl Glaeser, with the Southwest Initiative Foundation and Rural Energy Development Initiative, will provide an overview and update on the wind industry, including opportunities for involvement.  Ryan Stockwell, with The Minnesota Project, will discuss specific barriers to local wind projects and community-level strategies to overcome those barriers.  Forum participants will then have the opportunity to ask questions in a panel Q&A period.  Attendance is free, but registration is requested.
