Minnesota Department of Agriculture Offering Grants for New Sustainable Farming Practices

The MDA has announced a new round of their Sustainable Agriculture Grant program that awards up to $90,000 in 2010 for projects that promote environmental stewardship and conservation of resources with improving farm profitability and quality of rural and farm life.  Grants will be awarded in any of a number of areas including fruite and vegetable production, livestock production, conservation tillage and weed management, organic farming, and alternative energy crop production.  The deadline for application is January 15, 2010.  Applications are available at www.mnda.state.mn.us/esap or by calling the Agricultural Development and Financial Assistance Division at 651-201-6012.
