July 6, 2009

The Environmental Protection Agency solicits applications from local and tribal governments to compete for financial assistance to fund models of sustainable community development.  Funds may be used for developing plans, conducting demonstrations, and implementing projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions while achieving additional benefits such as a stronger local economy, improved public health, or improved environmental conditions.  Grant applications are due July 22, 2009.  More information is available at:

This is a great opportunity for Minnesota communities interested in improving their sustainability, creating local economic opportunities, and generally “greening” their activities.  Examples of qualifying projects include but are not limited to: anaerobic digesters, energy efficiency improvements, biomass energy systems, solar and wind applications.
