Minnesota Organic Farmers: Still Two Weeks to Sign Up for Incentives!

June 18, 2009
Organic vegetablesMinnesota organic farmers and those making the transition to organic have two more weeks to sign up for a new program to help them adopt better conservation practices. Minnesota’s Natural Resources Conservation Service is one of only a few in the nation to extend the deadline to June 30.

Minnesota Department of Agriculture organic specialist Meg Moynihan says the program can provide environmental benefits while helping producers improve their farm performance.

It offers payments to help start or expand the use of production practices that offer conservation benefits. Payments range from $2.95 to $58 per acre.
